Books from "Renaissance in Europe Series"

The series The Renaissance in Europe: A Cultural Enquiry forms the main texts of an Open University third-level course of the same name. This interdisciplinary course has been designed for students who are new to cultural history and the Renaissance as well as for those who have already undertaken some study in those areas. The purpose of this series is to introduce the idea of the Renaissance both as it developed during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and as it has since been interpreted. Through a wide-ranging series of case studies, we hope to provide a broad overview of current scholarship in the field of Renaissance studies. The subject is not tackled chronologically, although the earlier phases of the Renaissance tend to be considered in the first two books and later in the third. Each book engages with different themes and aspects of the Renaissance and is self-sufficient and accessible to the general reader.
